This restaurant, situated in Mahebourg on the road to Pointe d’Esny, is totally dedicated to authentic, traditional Creole cuisine. The setting: a garden which runs along the seaside and the décor recalls the small objects of daily life from past generations.

La Belle Kréole has been created by Alain O’Reilly, famous personality who pioneered eco-tourism with the renown Domaine du Chasseur. This restaurant pays tribute to the magnificent culinary traditions of the days of slavery.  Whilst the word “Creole”, initially to refer to all those born on islands, in Mauritius its meaning has evolved to refer only to those who are of African origin.  Daubes and rougails, corn from Rodrigues and coconut from Agalega thus form part of the basic ingredients of the dishes proposed in this unique restaurant.

La Belle Kreole is not a simple restaurant but a sort of museum of the Mauritian gastronomy.
