The 25-hectare garden hotel lies on a private beach front estate known as Balaclava along Turtle Bay ideally located between Port Louis 12 km (15 min.) and Grand Bay 12 km (15 min.), on the northwest coast, which is the sunniest region of Mauritius.
The distance to the airport is 60 km (45 min.). New trunk roads provide easy access to the hotel.

Immersed in the calming ambience of a tropical hideaway, 'Balaclava' is a historical estate dating back to the 18th century, with fascinating natural scenery. On the northern border flows Citron River, over dams and cascades into a shallow lagoon integrated in the lush tropical vegetation.
Mysterious ruins remain to be explored as witnesses of the colonial times. Walkways and footpaths allow for long walks through the luxuriant garden of the estate with its magnificent views over the impressive mountain range of Mauritius.
'Turtle Bay' is the first Marine National Park in Mauritius with well preserved underwater life. There are excellent snorkelling grounds right off the beach.
Aquamarine warm waters and secluded golden sandy beach in front of the hotel is about 500 m long and well protected by a coral reef. The bay has excellent conditions for all kind of water sports.

Open terrace restaurant on split-levels under an expansive wooden roof - Excellent view over the pool and the sea from all tables, our main restaurant Belle Vue has been extended to provide a more spacious buffet preparation area with live cooking stations including sushi and dim sum.

Château 'Mon Désir' - Fine-dining and Gourmet Restaurant:
A new mansion harmoniously integrated in the Ruins of Balaclava; our exclusive ‘A la Carte' restaurant overlooks the historical surroundings with its Citron River and the Turtle Bay.
The restaurant's colonial architecture and interior design is a tribute to the island's colonial past.

Open daily, from 09.00 to 16.00 hrs. Located next to the Ruins of Balaclava on our compound, our equestrian centre shelters 8 - 12 horses and ponies. A minimal fee will be applied for lessons in the corral and our ponies will make the joy of kids for special payable lessons.

Located next to the pool, our 150 sqm fully air-conditioned gym is fitted out with a selection of modern equipment.

Water Sports
Boat-House Open daily: 09.30 - 17.00 hours
Fully equipped for all kinds of water sports. The following water sports are available completely free of charge and are not subject to any time limit.
Activities and Facilities: Water-skiing, windsurfing, sailing (Hobie cats & Lasers), canoeing, glass-bottom boat trips, snorkelling, pedal boats.
Collective lessons of water-ski and windsurf are also free of charge.
Diving Centre
Open from Monday to Saturday, 09.00 to 16.00 hrs.
Our Diving Centre caters well for those adventurous guests who want to see what's under our warm and clear sea.
The centre is fully equipped to take 10 divers on 2 dives per day. Equipment includes tanks, regulators, masks, snorkels, fins, weight belts, wet-suits and stabilizing jackets.
The cost per dive is approximately 30 Euros. Equipment rental: 7 Euros
The Diving Centre also offers the following, for a reasonable fee:

Big Game Fishing
A fleet of motor yachts are available for half and full day charters. Trips start directly from the hotel jetty (no transport required). The equipment on board is according to IGFA standards.
