“The Tea Route” a way to discover the traditional side of Mauritius.
It starts in Curepipe with the visit of “Domain des Aubineaux”,
one of the few remaining typical colonial houses of the high
plateaus.The house was built in 1872. You will be able to admire the
interior of this beautiful house with its authentic furniture from days
gone by, its paintings as well as photographs of Curepipe as it was in
the past. Domaine des Aubineaux was the home to Bois Chéri tea estate’s
owner.
“Bois Chéri” at your service for more than 100 years. During a
guided tour of the tea factory, you will be able to witness the
transformation of this beverage, which is the most appreciated in
Mauritius. Discover a thousand and one secrets about tea during the
visit of the museum. You may then stop over at the chalet for a tasting
session of different teas from where you will see a panoramic view of
the south of the island.
“Le Saint Aubin” in the south of the estate, you’ll discover a
plantation house built in 1819 which has since been converted into a
“table d’hôte”. The house will welcome you for a typical Mauritian
lunch.
During your visit of the house, you may enjoy the tropical garden,
visit the anthurium greenhouses and the vanilla house. A botanical
route where you'll discover the exotic plants.
