La Hacienda 3* South East - Old Grand Port
|
|
 |
A small luxury guest house for eco-tourism lovers and for those seeking for tranquility in a wild nature. |
|
 |
We recommend this small complex for those who love eco-tourism and where facilities are proposed
La Hacienda is a community of exclusive guest houses perched on Lion Mountain, on the south eastern coast of Mauritius.
The guest houses, which are surrounded by luxuriant native forests and vegetation, offer an eco-wilderness experience,
while the meticulous design of each guest house imparts a “boutique hotel” ambiance.
La Hacienda is situated in the historic region of Old Grand Port, the “cradle” of Mauritian civilization. The property overlooks a large bay with several river tributaries which served as the first port for Dutch colonisers who arrived in 1598. It also overlooks the sea and outer islands where the famous battle between the French and the British took place in 1810.
The Guest houses
The property contains 4 unique guest houses; each secluded and surrounded by private gardens and with both mountain and sea views.
Each guest house is named after fauna on the property: The Pink Pigeon, The Day Gecko, The Butterfly and the Hare.

The Environment
The region of Old Grand Port and Lion Mountain, on which the property is situated, represents one of the last remaining un-spoilt refuges on the island.
We have planted many endemic and native plant species on the property. These plants are indicated by signs.
You can see the endemic bird species of the Kestrel (Falco punctatus), the native White-tailed tropic bird (Phaethon lepturus), and the Fruit Bat (Peteropus niger). If you are lucky, you may also catch sight of the rare endemic Pink Pigeon (Columba mayeri). Some non-native animals that are also abundant on the property include monkeys, hares, and tendrecs.
The property offers guests walking trails and viewpoints. One trail begins by the main parking lot.
